Hennepin Ave from uptown to downtown needs transit improvements. The torrent of cars coming into the city from the burbs makes the buses running along this line slow and unreliable as they have trouble navigating in all the traffic. Whether street car, BRT, or something else, this high-transit use stretch should get some priority over all the car traffic.

I agree. The traffic on Hennipen is awful. Public transit should take priority.

Maybe  the Mon-Sat rt6 run  limited- stops between Uptown and Downtown

Rts 4/17 are  available for local services .

MET COUNCIL should have chosen the LRT route thru midtown

Offer limited stops service all day on Henn Ave there are enough buses to convert one to a limited stop off peak Use large buses along Henn Ave.

SW LRT should run via Uptown serving Major destinations MCTC Colleges,ST Thomas,Dunwoody,Convention Center,Many hi-rises DT and numerous apts on the busiest buslines Buslines 2-4-6-12-17-18-21are all busy lines with very high ridership but extremely slow HENN COUNTY chose this routing in Mpls because the refused to consider the Midtown routing .HENN AVE,LAKE ST,NIC Aves are all too congested to even run BRT/Trolley and will be only about 5mins faster than the current buses.

.The proposed  Stations in MPls are useless except for W lake the rest will not get much riders due to low density The PENn Abe,21 st ST  Van White,Royalston ,even Target station except during events BUilt a LRT that serve high density areas where jobs/people live.

Streetcars have been proposed for Hennepin Ave by the City of Minneapolis from Lake (midtown greenway streetcar) to Downtown.

Urban rail should be for unrban corridors that relpy on transit riders Metc tendency to focus on park/ride infrastructures .Parking ramp and park /ride cost millions while the buses are already available in SW LRT and NW LRT both will ignore the central cities where most of the busiest buslines with the highest densities in the TC.

If the SWLRT should go be approved, then I agree, route it down Hennepin or Lyndale as that is where a higher density of people LIVE and businesses already exist.  Routing west of Kenwood does nothing but serve the SLP businesses (marginally) and serve the transit commuters from EP/Hopkins to get in to downtown.  An Uptown route truly connects people and places.

While I'm at it... scrap the SWLRT as making lines that only serve to connect downtown to suburbs are a waste of the idea.  People DRIVE to the station, park, and ride in.  It doesn't encourage smart growth or development in/near the city core as people will only use it to commute in to their jobs then go home to the suburbs.

Met Council should absolutely change the SWLRT routing to go down Hennepin and through Uptown. Failure to route the SWLRT through Uptown, which is one of the densest areas in the twin cities, would be a major mistake.

The reason the Uptown was eliminated because of cost of the tunnel now the tunnel in Kenilworth is even more expensive and serves no one (rich folks in kenwood has cars). The officals claimed that the Uptown area has good transit and the ridership is low for LRT which is misleading The same greenline on UNIV Ave also has good transit why was this chosen and not Uptown ?Beside the SW LRT does not have the ridership to justify running every10mins .N mpls staations are not even in densely populated area Only W lake in Mpls has high density.Scap the project rather than building one to serve commuters from suburbs .The system uptown segment would have serve major destinations and some of the busy bus lines NIC MALL will be rebulit use the money for tunnel downtown serving the most of dowtnown workers and residents ,conv center several colleges .No need for street car on Nic mall extend to Central later . $50M for Nic mall,200M for tunnel,200+ for street car This project will take care of the the Nic mall and street car while eliminate the need for parking ramps
